The theoretical maximum proportion of MN-derived DNA within plasma cfDNA is very low. (A) We can estimate the proportion of plasma cfDNA derived from MN based on the number of MN dying, the proportion of released DNA which reaches plasma cfDNA and the half-life of cfDNA. (B) For different disease durations between one and five years we estimate the proportion of plasma cfDNA derived from MN; and (C) we estimate the rate of MN-death necessary to achieve a given concentration within plasma cfDNA
